Heat Process gas-fired infra-red heat is the most efficient, economical and automatic method for thawing frozen railroad cars. Infra-red radiant rays penetrate the outer surfaces of the car and thaw ice and frozen substances within the car in a manner which no other form of heating can do so well. Coal, ore or other contents of cars may be freed for movement through hopper in as quickly as 20 minutes. The Heat Process system consists of undercar heaters, mounted in parallel; and sidecar heaters, mounted on SB45 Stands.

TYPICAL PLAN VIEW - CAR THAWING SHED

Best performance in thawing is accomplished by enclosed sheds. Cars progress through sheds in start-and-stop movement, exposed to infra-red heat below and on sides on each stop. Thawing process commences at beginning of progression through shed. When car reaches dumping point, thaw has been completed and car is ready to dump. All processes are regulated by automatic controls. No time is lost in process . . . train of cars moves continuously. We are available to consult and design complete systems for you.
